Root-proof roof membrane

This is an essential element when installing green roofs. The membrane prevents the roots from damaging the roof, for instance from converting bitumen into plant food. If the construction of the roof is at the planning stage it is advisable to inform the roofer that a green roof is to be built. He will then take the measures necessary. FlorDepot recommends having a root-proof membrane tested according to FLL guidelines laid by the roofing company.

"DIY green roofers" with a sealed but not root-proof roof may take advantage of the FlorDepot root-resistant sheeting, which will protect the existing sealing according to FLL guidelines and can be simply covered with plants without any fixing becoming necessary.

If the roof is not sealed (e.g. on a carport), the FlorDepot EPDM foil will take care of sealing and root protection. It is available in dimensions of up to 15 x 30 m and is also very easy to lay without any tools required. It is not necessary to weld or bond joins. It is fixed using specially developed aluminium U-profiles or wall-fixing profiles. A special drain is also installed without any bonding agent.

FlorDepot extensive substrate

FlorDepot extensive substrate is made up of mineral and organic elements just as they are needed in ecological cycles. The substrate is added when the FlorDepot vegetation mats have been laid. For the extensive method, one 40-litre sack of substrate is required per vegetation mat. Here, the layer of substrate is 4 cm high.
